Have you ever heard that old saying, the best kids' toy is an empty box? When I saw a delivery truck in my neighborhood and noticed the drivers taking out a refrigerator in a large box, I was weirdly excited. Forget the visions of buying new appliances. It was the box the appliances came in that had sparked my attention. I had visions of a grand puppet theather, a castle, a boat. I knew that my kids would enjoy countless hours with this blank canvas of sorts.
So of course I asked them if they had any boxes to spare and they very kindly gave me a left over box from a washer they delivered earlier. We brought it in and I set to work cutting a door and some windows in the sides. Ellie was in charge of decorating. She created her very own story box (just like Pinky Dinky Doo). Jonah loved opening and closing the door and crawling in and out of the box. It was one of the best playhouses ever!
