Springtime in the City

Yesterday the temp reached a balmy 83 degrees. The week before, we were bundled in winter coats. Needless to say, we took our time to enjoy the mini-heat wave March offered the Mid-Atlantic region yesterday.

We started with sidewalk chalk then lunched at one of our favorite restaurants, Austin Grill. I absolutely love dining al fresco, don't you? After lunch we returned home and ended the day with a long walk to check out some books in prep for our upcoming trip.

Crazy weather but we loved it! Now if only I could feel confident enough in the rising temp to put away our winter coats for good this season.

Parlez Vous Francais?

Well our big European excursion is less than a month away! And while we're all feeling the standard nervous/excited feelings that accompany a trip of this magnitude, we're working on brushing up on our french.

We have a video, books and cd that we've checked out of la bibliothèque. Mais notre français est toujours très mauvais. Donc j'espère pour le mieux.

Of course for those two sentences I had to hop over to freetranslation.com. Let's just say my first attempt at them didn't look anything like how they are written now. Oh boy, this should be quite the adventure.

Road to Roubaix

Last night in DC, Masterlink Films showed a teaser of their documentary Road to Roubaix. The teaser contained footage some of the crew shot last month at the Discovery Team's training camp in Solvang, CA. And it was amazing. The footage (which was beautiful) was incorporated with interviews with some amazing cyclists including George Hincapie and Lance Armstrong.

Dave (a.k.a. Daddy to Ellie Bellie and Jonah Boy) is one of the co-founders of Masterlink and co-director of Road to Roubaix and has been working very hard on this film with the rest of the crew. So last night was a terrific way to celebrate everyone's work thus far and launch the beginning of filming. Plus it provided an opportunity for investors to meet the filmmakers face to face. So without further ado, here are some pictures from last night's event (we missed you Patrick!)...

Working

This week has been a big week for us at Ellie Bellie Kids. On Monday, we were on the phone with an Oscar winner's assistant. This Oscar winner wanted to buy some of our items for her celeb friend who had a baby. I would tell you who it was, but I don't want to ruin the surprise for the giftee.

Then from Tuesday through today, we've been gearing up for Mommies Who Shop. We're thrilled to be part of this Boston area event. Our items will be rubbing elbows with items from some amazingly talented children's designers. We feel so lucky! And the moms who attend will have access to our brand new EBK "Bolt" capes in color choices that aren't yet available on our website.

And on Sunday, we'll be at the ENK Children's Club show in New York City.

Okay, off to work! Wish us luck getting everything done.
